TELOS Environmental Sample Preparation Products
Kinesis offer a comprehensive range of products for Environmental Sample Preparation. With the developments in LC-MS/mass spectrometry, there is a trend to smaller sample volumes, but still with the need for clean-up and/or concentration. The range of TELOS Silica- and Polymer-based SPE Products offer the complete solution to the extraction of today’s environmental analyte suites. We offer a comprehensive range of TELOS SPE Columns and Sample Processing Manifolds for the environmental laboratory. TELOS Solid Phase Extraction Products are available in three main chemistry options:
| Sorbent Type | Application/Analyte Type |
| TELOS Silica-based SPE Columns | Commonly used C8 and C18 sorbents in 3 and 6ml configurations for extracting analytes with non-polar character |
| TELOS neo Polymer-based Columns | Non-polar polymer-based sorbent in 3 and 6ml configurations. The analyte range is extended compared with C8 and C18, but only provides average recoveries for more polar analytes |
| TELOS ENV | A polystyrene divinylbenzene resin optimised for the extraction of polar analytes from aqueous samples. The high capacity resin provides excellent recoveries for analyte suites including phenols and phenoxyacid herbicides |
Sorbent Options TELOS C8 and C18 Silica-based SPE Sorbents TELOS C8 and C18 are commonly used sorbents when extracting analyte suites including Organochlorine Pesticides (OCPs) and Phenylurea Herbicides (Urons) from various waters.
The sorbents use non-polar or van der Waals interactions to retain the analytes. Most environmental SPE applications use either a 3 or 6ml SPE Column format, the latter providing improved flow rates and increased sample throughput. Whilst providing high and reproducible recoveries for many analytes, TELOS C8 and C18 are not the optimum sorbents for more polar analytes, e.g. phenols – please see TELOS ENV.

TELOS neo PRP Polymer-based SPE Sorbent Generic non-polar SPE is now commonplace in analytical laboratories. With method development time at a premium, the use of water-wettable SPE sorbents, such as TELOS neo PRP, are ideal for extracting a broad range of analytes using a single generic method. TELOS neo PRP uses non-polar or van der Waals interactions to retain the analytes. In addition, TELOS neo PRP has the added benefit of not impacting recoveries should the sorbent or column bed dry out. Most environmental SPE applications use either a 3 or 6ml SPE Column format, the latter providing improved flow rates and increased sample throughput. Whilst providing high and reproducible recoveries for many analytes, TELOS neo PRP is not the optimum sorbent for more polar analytes, e.g. phenols – please see TELOS ENV.

TELOS ENV TELOS ENV is a high capacity polystyrene divinylbenzene resin, optimised for the extraction of polar, water soluble analytes from aqueous samples. TELOS ENV is an ideal SPE Product for the extraction of analyte suites such as phenols and phenoxyacid herbicides. Our latest Application Note details the extraction of metaldehyde, geosmin and 2-methylisoborneol from Water – click here to find out more. For sample volumes of <100ml, the 100mg/3ml configuration is recommended. For larger sample volumes we recommend the 200mg/3ml or 200mg/6ml options; the latter allows higher flow rates and improved sample throughput.
