TELOS Normal Phase (Polar) Silica-based SPE Products
Introduction
TELOS® Silica-based SPE columns from Kinesis are designed for the extraction and isolation of analytes from a range of aqueous and non-aqueous matrices. The comprehensive range includes SPE sorbents from each retention mechanism; including Non-polar, Ion Exchange, Polar and Mixed-mode SPE sorbents. Packed with sorbent masses from 50mg to 2g and reservoir volumes from 1 to 15ml as standard, the appropriate TELOS Silica-based SPE column can be selected based on sample volume and sample load requirements. TELOS SPE Columns are compatible with manual and automated sample processing, meeting the needs of all levels of throughput.
TELOS Normal Phase (Polar) Silica-based SPE Columns Clean-up of matrices based on non-polar solvents is achieved using Normal Phase (Polar) SPE columns, such as silica and amino-based sorbents. They can either be used to retain the analytes of interest, or to remove polar interferences from the sample. Polar interactions can also be useful for the separation of molecules that are very similar in structure. Speciality sorbents like FLORISIL® (PR Grade) are popular choices when a different selectivity to that provided by silica-based sorbents is required.
TELOS SILICA (Unmodified Silica) Unmodified silica has the greatest capacity for polar interactions and is widely used in sample clean-up of non-polar solvent extracts. The primary retention mechanism of TELOS SILICA is Polar; therefore this sorbent exhibits hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions. With trace amounts of water, weak anion exchange secondary interactions can also be present.

TELOS NH2 (Aminopropyl) The Aminopropyl sorbent provides a different selectivity for polar analytes compared to unmodified silica. The primary retention mechanism is Polar, therefore TELOS NH2 exhibits hydrogen bonding and dipole-dipole interactions. This sorbent is also used as a Weak Anion Exchange sorbent for the extraction of aqueous matrices; see Ion Exchange.

TELOS FLORISIL® (PR GRADE) MAGNESIUM SILICATE FUNCTIONALISED SORBENT Florisil® is an alternative to silica based polar sorbents for the extraction of polar compounds from non-polar sample matrices. Florisil can be used for the separation of chlorinated pesticides from complex matrices, such as fruit and vegetables. TELOS FLORISIL is Pesticide Residue Grade and the approximate composition is Mg3Si4O10(OH)2.
