KX Vials - Septum Selection Guide
Choosing the right septum for your application can help you optimise performance and results. Our septa selection guide will help you match our products to your needs.
The right choice of septa depends on the application. Almost all septa are laminated on one side with PTFE, which forms a chemically resistant barrier between the sample and the main septum material.
Septa have different physical and chemical properties, such as temperature resistance, resealability, cleanliness and piercability.
Natural Rubber septa are often used as are a cost-effective option for non-critical applications. However, natural rubber has some disadvantages with regard to analytical purity and it is also a relatively hard material can be difficult to pierce and as a result, is prone to fragmentation and coring.
